Christopher Wren’s memorial to London’s Great Fire of 1666 was co-designed by the great scientist Robert Hooke. Its fluted stone column rises from scenes of the fire in relief at the base to a fiery bronze gilded orb at the summit.
This copper plate etching, with aquatint and hand-watercolour, was made by Andrew Ingamells in 1994, and rarely comes on the market. We have a single copy only for sale. It is signed by the artist in the margin at lower right and numbered 75/150 at lower left.
